Development and certification

SAINT-GOBAIN SULLY takes part to the development of new programs as soon as possible at the beginning of the train design, in close relationship with its customer.
A very documented technical offer is proposed to the Engineering people supported by the test results that are requested by the program.

Among them, one can find :

  • Résistance to the impacts, from gravels to the most energetic impacts
  • Weathering
  • De-icing and de-misting of the windshields
  • Spectrophotometry and Colorimetry to comply with the signals spectrum

Tests procedures are finalized by the certification Department in relation with the Customer teams.

Interfaces

The installation of the glazings on the structure is very important and SAINT-GOBAIN SULLY takes great care to propose a panel of approved solutions adapted to the type of window and the type of train :

  • Direct bonding on to structure
  • Rubber gaskets
  • Molded gaskets
  • Complete framed window in relationship with the frame makers
  • Electrical interfaces, thermostat, sensor, ...

The goals of our teams are to keep a high degree of safety, maintain a high life time and minimise the global costs and replacement leadtimes.



Extra features

The rolling stocks are more and more demanding of new functionnalities. It is compulsory that Saint-Gobain Sully can propose proven and innovating solutions.

  • Lessen solar factor without degrading light tranmission in order to lessen costs of cars'air condiditionning.
  • Develop noise attenuation devices for more confort inside the passengers cars.
  • Increase the impact resistance of the products for a better protection of the drivers.
  • Propose anti-spall technologies in case of front impacts.
  • Insure a clearer vision through the windshields in case of rain

Documentation

The following documents shows the impact effects of some projectiles on a windshield, under usual conditions.

Those documents have been recorded in our tests lab (air canon) and are usually attached to our technical reports during the development period of the program.
